Grammar:
Rules and examples of dealing with words in a language. For example ‘There
walking up the stairs’ is incorrect use of grammar whereas ‘they’re walking up
the stairs’ involves the correct use of grammar.
Lexis: Individual words or vocabulary. An
example of a type of lexis is synonyms. This is where a word means exactly or
nearly the same things as another word in the same language. An example of a synonym Is ‘horrible’ and ‘awful’.
Discourse: Text, whether it’s verbal or
written. An example of discourse would be a transcript of a conversation of a
text from a newspaper.
